Getting to know us

Howz it we are Fanie and Gerda de Jager we have been in the Boerboel game for about 18 years and thru the grace of God hopefully many more years to come.  It has been a tough and bumpy road and along with a lot of tears, fears and persistence we are still learning a lot every day.​

When we got started in 1995 we were as dumb about a Boerboel as the next person.  We bought our first female thinking we've got the most beautiful Boerboel on earth,  big was the comeback to earth when she barely made her appraisal.  She was too short, her front legs was like that of an English Bulldog and her back was so hollow I could saddle her up and go for a ride.  Non the less that was when the bug bit us and Matcho Boerboel stud was born.

Unfortunately due to eager breeders who was in it for the money we were forced to give away more than 30 dogs because they were sold as breeding dogs but had all sorts of genetic problems we were not informed about.   Along the way we also got to know the breeders we are now closely working with to better the breed and inform the unsuspecting and unknowing public.

We make it a life task to inform a new buyer of all the problems and highlights of the breed so as to make sure that the new owner is well informed, and we try to provide a good after sale service as well.

​

We got our first Ysterberg puppies in 2006 and has since been taken on a wild, adventurous and ever exciting journey, and had a part in establishing a whole new breed in 2010 by the name of the Ysterberg Mastiffs​ (the bigger and better dog of the future).
